After sweeping the District 17- 6A meet last week, the Stratford girls and boys did it again this week at the Area 17-18 6A meet. Every single Stratford athlete that competed at Area contributed points by finishing in the top six in their respective events, and 27 Spartans (14 girls, 13 boys) qualified for the Region 3-6A meet by finishing top four spots. I think it's fair to say this is a pretty special team!

The girls posted 132 team points, well ahead of second place Memorial with 92 points and third-place Cypress Creek with 74. Our boys had 118 points, followed by Houston Lamar with 106, and Jersey Village with 82. Congratulations Coach Siemers, coaching staff, athletes, and trainers on a spectacular display of athleticism!

• The Region 3- 5A and 6A meet will be held next Friday and Saturday (April 29 - 30) at Turner Stadium in Humble. Only the top two in each event will punch their tickets to the state meet in Austin in mid-May. Please come out to support the Spartans and watch elite-level high school competition. The stadium will be packed, the atmosphere will be electric, and you will have a great time.
