Track & Field 2021-22 Awards Banquet

The following athletes were recognized at the awards banquet:

Girls newcomer of the year - Liza Heitmann

Thank you to each of these outgoing seniors for their hard work and dedication during their time as Stratford track and field athletes and trainers. You represented the school exceptionally well and you left a lasting legacy on the program.

Galdino State Champ, Samuelson 4th, Six More in Top 10 at Track & Field State Championship

The 2022 Track & Field season has come to a close, but what a remarkable season it was for the Stratford girls and boys programs. Several meet championship trophies were won, both teams were District and Area champions, 12 school records were broken, 8 Spartan athletes qualified for the state meet, and a State Champion was crowned.

On Saturday in Austin, our athletes battled with an incredible amount of heart and determination after working so hard to earn their right to compete at the state meet. The best of the best in class 6A were there, and Spartan pride was on full display.

Results:

1600 meter run- Emanuel Galdino - 1st place - STATE CHAMPION - 4:06.40 (personal best)

Pole Vault - Parker Samuelson - 4th place - 15’ 6” (tied personal best)

High Jump - Evelyn Lavielle - 6th place - 5' 6"

4 x 100 meter relay - Mikayla Osborne, Sophia Akpan, Paris Strange, Sophia Akpan - 7th place - 46.50

800 meter run - Niamh Collins - 9th place- 2:24.38

Track & Field State Meet Info

The UIL Track and Field State Meet will be held this week at Mike A. Myers stadium on the campus of the University of Texas at Austin. State qualifiers from class 3A and 4A will compete on Thursday, 2A and 5A on Friday, and 1A and 6A on Saturday.

Girls Pole Vault - Evelyn Lavielle - 9:00 am

Boys Pole Vault - Parker Samuelson - 1:00 pm

Girls 4 x 100 meter relay - Mikayla Osborne, Sophia Akpan, Paris Strange, Sarah Akpan - 5:00 pm

Girls 800 meters - Niamh Collins - 5:20 pm

Boys 1600 meters - Emanuel Galdino - 7:50 pm
