JV Lady Spartans vs. Northbrook High School (Win 7-0)

What are you going to do with the time you have? That’s the great thing about soccer, the clock doesn't stop.  Every second is valuable to get things done.  That’s exactly what the JV Spartans did Tuesday evening.  Countless times staying true to their efforts and 7 times obtaining the prize.  These prizes, not of luck but of skill, speed and smartocular execution (playing smart and looking for all the possibilities).

34:00 on the clock, Oliva Harbison to the 50, Chassity Mandley to Bre Blaylock, kept it in front leaving defenders in her wake and netted it decisively for goal 1 in the 1st minute of the game.

Next three minutes, Gracie Howard sent it to the 20, Nicole Abby chased the ball down and grazed past the defender and took care of it 10 yards from the net for the 2nd goal.

10 minutes in, Harbison’s penalty kick showed off her prowess as she put the bird in the coop with no chance of escaping for goal 3.

15 minutes in, Harbison sent it again to the 50 with the ball bouncing 20 feet high and landing at the 40 with Ally Evetts catching it at the 30, broke off from two sticky defenders and took it to the goal with Abby putting the ball to bed for the 4th goal.

The next 35 min goes something like this:

Megan Hallmark’s attacking approach with her long-range diagonal ball to the left of the post set up Bre Blaylock to make art out of the 5th goal as she made contact with the ball just before it could touch earth and arched it to the top of the net.

Abby, working like a professional angler, cast the ball up and over goalie and plunked perfectly in the box for number 6.

Evettts checked the ball off and finished off with a rapid fire of the foot for goal number 7.

JV Spartans, we leave each game wanting more, more time for kicks, bumps, and hands celebrating in the air.  Time with you is well spent.  Until next time, Go Spartans!

JV Lady Spartans vs. Cy-Fair High School (Win 1-0)

The Cy-Fair Bobcats proved to be a formidable opponent for the tenacious Spartans but they ultimately could not penetrate Stratford’s solid defense to put any score on the board.  The Lady Spartans walked away with a 1-0 victory on Friday night.  Stratford’s only score came from a beautifully placed corner kick by Layla Walker, with Gracie Howard punching the ball in for the goal.  The defensive battles were tough this game with defenders Claire Lamon, Layla Walker, Piper Miller, Abby Lumpkin and Kate Michels (much to the chagrin of many of the Bobcat parents!) doing a great job keeping the Bobcats at bayGreat performance also by keeper, Olivia Harbison for keeping the slate clean.
