Stratford JV. vs. Cy-Fair  (Win 1-0)

Do you ever see the itty-bitty pieces of black rubber on your floors?  Well, that stuff was flying off the boots Tuesday night.  Kicks were harder, louder, stronger.  Verbal output from bleacher people and coach as well.  “Smooth Move” to Hannah Haygood from a spirited grandma as she chest stopped and kicked the ball back to Cy-Fair territory.  “Go Go Go “ as Bre Blaylock saves too many to count balls from touching the black line. You don’t need a life coach if you come to JV Stratford soccer games.

“Talk to each other”

“Let’s go green, let’s finish strong”

“Connect with somebody”

“Fight for it”

Stratford’s glorious goal was made by Gracie Howard in the second half off Kate Michels’ corner kick that fell down perfectly in the shadows of the goal post.  Cy-fair’s defense proved formidable, but ours out performed.  Abby Lumpkin’s clever feet took the ball away multiple times and Michels and Olivia Harbison functioned like a seasoned married couple who have been dancing Tango for years.  Both moving in sync as if attached by rubber band, creating an impenetrable zone.   Not once was there a “phew, that was close” moment.  The girls in green continue to inspire and as we work toward our goals in this life may we all hear, “Let’s go green, Let’s finish strong.”

JV Women’s Soccer vs. Cy-Ridge High School (7-0 Win)

Stratford JV Friday night was busy at the net, with a 7-0 win without breaking a sweat

With total domination on the pitch, the Rams ability to score went into the ditch

Goal 1- An assist from Brooke McAfee and a big drive from Nicole Abbey resulted in Cy-Ridge goalie not able to grabby

Goal 2 -Elizabeth Byrd to Kaylann Vinson-Gay and fast ball on the ground, was just too difficult to pin down

Goal 3 - Quickly followed by Brooke McAfee taking it to the yellow box, with Vinson-Gay’s fast feet finishing it off

Goal 4  -With an assist from Bre Blaylock, Layla Walker kept up the flow, with a strike of the foot she knew just where she wanted the ball to go

Goal 5 -With everything happening so fast, Bre Blacklock took it away and forced the ball and net to crash

Goal 6 – Bre Blaylock intercepted pass, sent it straight into the net with another goal to amass

Goal 7- Corner kick from Nicole Abbey to Hannah Haygood who was positioned near the goal saw a header to header adding to the bankroll

With Cy -Ridge man on man defense ago, it gave the Spartans the space for passing skill show. A shout out to our defenders who protected the ball like a baby, they are the reminder that this team has no leading lady, but a strong generous team of valent, who sets up their mates for success and highlights each talent.  Work hard, play hard is the ethos of this team, cheers to the Spartans, we hold you all in high esteem.
