Boys Soccer Players Honored at Awards Banquet

Boys Soccer wrapped up the season with a video montage, letterman jackets, and Stratford & District Awards.

Kudos to Yuto Komiya for an outstanding season performance and recognition on 1st Team All District

Captain Jason Castro on 2nd Team All District

Max Werner and Hanno Waguespack as Honorable Mentions, and also Hanno Waguespack for his nomination as one of the few to be considered as Newcomer of the year. 

Varsity Boys Soccer Update March 7th

The Spartans started the week with a game against Memorial.  Memorial scored two early goals in the first half and led 2-0 until #10 Yuto Komiya scored with 19:10 left in the half on a penalty kick. The score remained the same at the half 2-1 Memorial. Both sides played excellent defense in the second half with Memorial getting the only goal with 7:15 left in the match. The final on Tuesday night was Memorial 3 Stratford 1.

Friday night Cy Creek traveled to Stratford. The game saw both teams playing tough defense and the only goal of the first half was scored by Cy Creek on a penalty kick with 4:20 left the play. At the half, it was Cy Creek 1 and Stratford 0.

The second half was much the same as defense was stout on both sides. The Spartans scored with a nice setup by Yuto Komiya on a penalty kick from midfield to the goal and a header by #4 Edmund (Baba) Ndaye to tie the game at 1-1 with 17:44 left in the game. But it was all Cy Creek from then on scoring two goals at the 10 minute and 6 minute marks. Final score, Cy Creek 3 Spartans 1.

Stratford’s record for the season is 5-9-4.

IMPORTANT note, this week’s Tuesday game has moved to Monday night at Tully against Jersey Village at 7:30.  On Friday the Spartans travel to Northbrook, start time 7:30.

Varsity Boys Soccer Update February 28th

Tuesday the Spartans took on Cy-Ridge. Cy-Ridge scored late in the first half to take a 1-0 lead.  Both sides played stellar defense in the first half with both sides having opportunities to score multiple goals. Solid play at goalie and our defensive line kept the score 1-0 at the half.

The second half saw Cy-Ridge score three unanswered goals at 31 minutes, 7 minutes, and 2 minutes remaining. The final score was Cy-Ridge 4 Spartans 0.

Senior night was Friday and the Spartans hosted Spring Woods. Spring Woods took the early lead at 10:51 remaining in the first half, leading to a halftime score of 1-0. In the second half, Cy Ridge scored with 19 and 16 minutes remaining to build a 3-0 lead. The Spartans scored a goal by senior #3 Patrick Ndaye with 8:23 remaining.  The Spartans rallied with multiple shots on goal trying to close the gap but the game ended with the Spartans falling 3-1.

For the season the Spartans hold a record of 5-7-4 with GF 27 and GA 25.

This week Stratford hosts Memorial on Tuesday night at 7:30 pm and travels to Cy Creek at 7:30 pm.
