State Championship Game – Stratford vs. Flower Mound Marcus on 4.12.2025

The 2024-2025 Stratford Spartan Varsity Girls Soccer Team would take the field for the final time in Georgetown, Texas with the State Championship on the line on Saturday April 12th versus two-time State Champion, Flower Mound Marcus. As the match got underway, both teams spent the first half of the match feeling each other out. Chances were had by both teams, but neither team could string together a combination to put a goal on the scoreboard. The Spartans and Marauders would go to the halftime break with a score of 0-0.

In the second half, it would remain a back-and-forth battle. There were opportunities for both sides, but neither team could find the back of the net. That all changed in the 50th minute of the match when the Spartans would be called for a foul just outside of the penalty box. Marcus would capitalize on the opportunity, taking the free kick directly on frame and bending a shot into the near post to take a 1-0 lead. Despite furious efforts from the Green & White to find the equalizer, time would run out on the 2025 season and result in a State Runner-Up outcome for the Spartans.

Despite the incredibly close loss, this Stratford team accomplished historic feats.
