This week Varsity began District Playoffs on Wednesday and ended the week with multiple players moving on to Regionals! Way to go Spartan Tennis!

Varsity District Matches - Day 1

Varsity Girls got things rolling on day one of District Playoffs.

Girl Singles

Brianna Johnson advanced to the semi-finals and finished that match strong. She came back from one set down to dominate the next two full sets for the win and advancement to District Finals on Saturday.

Erin Bui played amazing tennis throughout her matches and demolished the top-seeded player in two sets. She was on fire! Erin also advanced to the District Finals match!

Brianna and Erin are set to play each other on Saturday for the District Championship - Girls Singles. We are proud of our girls for the strong representation of Spartan Tennis!

Girl Doubles

Lupe Rodriguez and Sarah Thielemann played great doubles and made it to the semi-finals. They fought hard against a tough Memorial team but came up short. They are set to play for third place on Saturday.

June Lim and Ruthie Egger also made it to the semi-finals and had a lot of great points against the top-seeded team but could not pull off the win. They are also set to play for third place on Saturday!

Mixed Doubles

Sophia Preng and Kyle Chen ran into a tough Memorial team in the semifinals. It was a super-close second set but they lost and are set to play for third on Saturday.

Varsity District Matches - Day 2

Boys Singles

It was the boys' turn on the second day of District Playoffs. Congrats to Emerson Hamlin for cruising through his matches to the semifinals and playing a great third set in the semifinals to pull off a strong win. He is set to play for District Champ on Saturday.

Varsity District Matches - Day 3

What a great day at Day 3 of Districts!

We have 3 players going to Regionals!!! Yep, 3!!! Way to go Erin Bui, Brianna Johnson, and Emerson Hamlin!

A huge congratulations goes to Junior Erin Bui - District Champion in Girl Singles. She accepted a last-minute change by Coach and played amazing both days to be the top girls' singles player in the District. She played the #1 seed in the semifinals and only gave up 3 games.

Congratulations to Senior Emerson Hamlin for finishing 2nd in Boys Singles. He played two tough Memorial High School players and was successful in the semifinals but ran into a tough #1 seed in the finals and lost in a close second-set.

Big Congratulations to Sophomore Brianna Johnson. She lost a tough final but then had to turn around and play to keep her 2nd place. She was focused and determined and steam-rolled over the #1 seed to remain in 2nd place!!

Congratulations to Lupe Rodriguez and Sarah Thielemann for pulling out 3rd place against teammates Ruthie Egger and June Lim. It’s never easy playing teammates. Ruthie and June played a great semi-final against the #1 seed and finished in 4th place.

It was a great finish for Sophia Preng and Kyle Chen in 3rd place. They made a quick match on Saturday against the 4th seed Cy Fair team to win in 2 sets.

The girls finished Runner-Up for Team Award. Way to go Spartan Girls' Varsity Tennis!
