The Spartans won an exciting non-District game against Seven Lakes on Saturday and are looking forward to picking up another couple wins against Cy Falls and Cy Ridge this week (both home games). The Spartans are currently 3-1 in District play.
vs. Seven Lakes – Win (12-7)
The Spartans shook off the dust over Spring Break with a non-District game against Seven Lakes on Saturday. It was a slow start as Seven Lakes jumped ahead with 1 run in the 1st inning and 2 more runs in the 2nd inning. Stratford finally got on the board in the bottom of the 3rd inning when Brooklyn Marks drew a walk, Gwyn Katterhenry singled, Layla Yslas walked, and Allison Hibbetts reached on an error, scoring three runs. Seven Lakes went ahead by 1 run in the top of the 4th inning, and then added another 2 runs in the top of the 5th, making the Spartans down 3-6 going into the bottom of the 5th inning. The Spartans rallied to then put up 4 runs, going ahead 7-6. The rally started with Katterhenry drawing a walk, Yslas doubling to left field, Hibbetts picking up an RBI, Aashna Kapoor singling, Marielle Kiersh doubling, and Alessia Avalos singling.
Seven Lakes again tied it up in the top of the 6th inning, but Stratford was on a roll and scored 5 runs in the bottom of the 6th as both Elizabeth McGuire and Hibbetts drew walks, Marks and Kapoor were hit by pitches, and the freshman Kiersh hit a 3-run BOMB! It was an exciting end to a back-and-forth battle. Katterhenry pitched 5 innings, and Kiersh pitched 2 innings, as the pair worked together to hold Seven Lakes' bats at bay and tag-teamed a total of 6 Ks.
