Stratford came out strong and held firm defensively to claim a 1-0 win over Cy Fair in a hard-fought match. Early attacking pressure and a resilient backline proved to be the difference as Stratford controlled possession and limited Cy Fair’s opportunities.
The game started with Oliver Burdick testing the Cy Fair goalkeeper in the 5th minute, forcing a deflection wide. Just a minute later, Dawson Burgett delivered a precise cross into the box, where Burdick rose up and headed the ball over the keeper to put Stratford ahead 1-0. Stratford continued to push forward, with Tarkan Rendle making a beautiful run upfield in the 17th minute before firing a powerful shot just over the goal. Cy Fair’s first real attempt came in the 27th minute on a corner kick, but Theo Bigirimana cleared it away to prevent any danger. Fardin Ansari followed with a powerful shot in the 29th minute that barely missed wide right.
Before halftime, Cy Fair had a threatening free kick from 10 yards out, but Davis Cooper handled it confidently. He was called into action again shortly after, making a dangerous clearance under pressure and narrowly avoiding a collision with a rushing forward. First Half: Defensive Duels and Missed Opportunities Both teams created early chances, but neither could find the breakthrough in the first half. In the 11th minute, Cy Falls broke away down the right wing, but Juan Colo made a crucial recovery, forcing a kick save from goalkeeper Davis Cooper to deny the chance. Just two minutes later, Cy Falls worked the ball into the box, but their striker’s shot rolled just left of the post.
Stratford responded with several attacking threats of their own. In the 20th minute, Nick Velarde played a pass to Carson Rushing, who delivered a beautiful through-ball assist to Julio Garcia, who finished with confidence to put Stratford on the board at 1-2.
