After Tuesday's game being cancelled because of all the rain, the girls came out Friday against Jersey Village ready to battle the Falcons and the cold. It took us about 10 minutes to warm up, but once the girls were warm, the attack began. With 25 minutes left in the half, Sophomore - Ella Bui chased the ball down and sent a beautiful serve into the box, where she found Freshman - Brooklyn Baber, who tapped it in. SHS 1 - JVHS 0. A couple minutes later, Freshman - Mia Leonoras intercepted a pass. She found Baber up top. Her first touch brought her toward the middle of the field, where she found Freshman - Sofia Denson. She played a great through-ball on the back side, finding Sophomore - Trysta Truong. She dribbled toward the goal, and at the last second, laid the perfect ball on the ground in front of the goal, where Sophomore - Kaija Sola tapped it in. SHS 2 - JVHS 0. Five minutes later, Baber stepped in and deflected a goal kick. The ball landed at the feet of Truong, who took a touch and then shot the ball through three defenders to find the back of the net. SHS 3 - JVHS 0. The girls continued attacking, but the goalie made save after save. Finally, with 5 minutes left in the half, the girls found the back of the net again. Bui took a corner kick that sailed into the box. It hit off a defender and bounced out to Sophomore - Sylvia Castaneda, who one-touched the ball back into the box. Freshman - Blair Hunter's first touch landed on the ground right in front of Junior - Bella Saavedra, who quickly took a one-touch shot that found the net. SHS 4 - JVHS 0.

In the 2nd half, the girls came out ready to finish this game off. It was clear they did not want to play in the cold any longer than they had to. Two minutes in, Bui took a quick corner by laying it short to Sophomore - Camille Warren, making her first appearance after finishing up basketball season. Warren took a great first touch, setting herself up to take an even better shot that would find the back of the net to make it SHS 5 - JVHS 0. For the next 10 minutes, the girls took shot after shot, but nothing would fall in as the goalie continued to make save after save. With about 12 minutes left in the half, Junior - Cate Shofner settled the ball down off of a goal kick and then did a give-and-go with BuiShofner played the ball out wide to a waiting Sola, who sent a beautiful ball into the box. Freshman - Dalton Cashman got a body on it first and then quickly volleyed it into the net to make it SHS 6 - JVHS 0. Two minutes later, Truong found herself with the ball out wide. She sent the ball soaring in the air into the box. The goalie tried to stop it, but it hit off her hands, redirecting the path of the ball, ultimately hitting off a defender and then finding the back of the net. SHS 7 - JVHS 0. With 8 minutes left on the clock, Truong once again found herself with the ball. She beat her defender, then served another beautiful ball into the box. This time it went over the head of the goalie,  finding Saavedra on the backside, where she tapped it in for the final goal, allowing the mercy rule to come into play. SHS 8 - JVHS 0.

This week the girls will play Wednesday against Cy Fair at Stratford and then Saturday at Cy Falls, both games are at 5:30 pm.
