The cold, wet weather put a damper on play this week, leaving the Spartans with one unfinished game, three cancelled games, and only one complete game, but they will be returning this week to complete their first District game against Cy Creek as well as taking on Northbrook at home.
vs. Cy Creek – Delayed (up 6-0 in top of 3rd inning)
On Monday the Spartans will continue their rained-out game from last Tuesday, resuming play in the top of the 3rd inning with bases loaded and two outs. The Spartans took a 1-0 lead in the 2nd inning after Gwyn Katterhenry drew a walk and Aashna Kapoor singled to left field. The Spartans put five more runs on the board in the top of the 3rd inning from a walk drawn by Sophie Donnel, Brooklyn Marks being hit by a pitch, Layla Yslas hitting two singles, as well as Kapoor, an RBI by Allison Hibbetts, and a walk by Marielle Kiersh. A win will be a boost as the Spartans enter District play having split last season with Cy Creek. Katterhenry has pitched two complete innings so far, striking out four. To be continued...
