The Varsity Boys Golf Team played Monday, January 27th in the Vern Edwards Memorial Tournament at The Woodlands Tournament Course. The team played 36 holes in one day in some very wet course conditions. The players also had to contend with the cold and windy weather during play! The first round started off slow with the players having no warmup on the range. Senior Tyler Davis led the team with a one under, 71 score to get the team into second place after the first round.
As the second round began, the wind calmed down to allow several players to start scoring. Tyler continued his great play on the second 18 holes by birdying his opening holes. As the round continued, Senior Caleb Lumpkin and Junior Noah Bahrami also played well to help propel the team to 1st place! Stratford shot a 601 team score to lead the field by 9 shots over Grand Oaks High School and 15 shots over rival Memorial High School. Congratulations to the Varsity Team for taking home the first-place trophy! Tyler Davis finished 2nd overall individually by shooting a 145.
