JV vs. Jersey Village: Tuesday, December 17 - WIN: 53-31

Against a clearly outmatched Jersey Village team, Stratford won fairly easily, but at times looked like they were merely going through the motions. Nonetheless, there were bright spots during the course of the game and everyone participated. Stratford struck first with a nice corner three from Teagan Tedrow, who added another three in the second period. By halftime, the Spartans were up 31-15.

Teagan Tedrow led the team with 10, followed by Alex Harris with 8, Ben Harris with 7, Will Ubell with 6, and Cody Hanlen and Jaelaun Rosser with 5. Anderson Fitzgerald, Jay Frazier, Javian Greenwood, and Xavier Jackson all added buckets.

JV vs. Cy Fair: Friday, December 20 - LOSS (OT): 64-67

A very hard-fought game from the opening minutes, the Spartans and a strong Cy Fair team traded baskets nearly the entire game. At half time, the score was 32-32. Throughout the 3rd quarter, there were back-and-forth lead changes. Cy Fair grew its lead to six into the final minute. With two consecutive threes from Ben Harris, the final one following an inbound steal and assist by Tegan Tedrow, the Spartans tied Cy Fair with regulation ending at 60-60.

The back-and-forth witnessed throughout the game continued during overtime. With less than a minute left, with the score tied at 64, the Spartans had a chance to go up, but Cy Fair defended well (and maybe benefited from an uncalled foul?) Now they had their own chance to put it away. Following a timeout at 12 seconds, Cy Fair found an open man who put up a rattling bank shot at the buzzer—that went in.

Ben Harris led with 18, followed by both Cody Hanlen and Teagan Tedrow with 13, Xavier Jackson with 10 (including a clutch 3 in the final minutes of regulation), and Alex Harris with 5.

JV vs. Cy Falls: Saturday, January 4 - WIN (OT): 62-60

As Stratford ventured to Cy Falls High School, the game was clearly a tale of two halves, with an overtime period nodding in favor of the Spartans. During the first half, the game had all the makings of a potential blow-out, especially in the second quarter, with the Spartans cruising to a 37-21 lead. Good passing and timely lay-ups by Ben Harris (including a dunk), Cody Hanlen (drives to the bucket), Teagan Tedrow (nice put-back), and Alex Harris.

Perhaps a bit due to over-confidence and some intermittent sloppy play by the Spartan, Cy Falls fought back bucket by bucket, bringing the game to within six by the end of the 3rd quarter, and eventually taking a two point lead with 51 seconds to go. Cy Falls had a chance to win it with nine seconds left but missed an open three at the buzzer. Regulation ended in a 52-52 tie.

Stratford secured the tip-off and a quick bucket to start the four minute extra period. A nice pick-and-roll floater (“and 1”) from Cody Hanlen to Alex Harris put the Spartans up, and the team continued to hold a 2-3 point lead. Cy Fair had 30 seconds to tie the game but could not convert.

Ben Harris scored a season high of 27 points, followed by Cody Hanlen with 10, Alex Harris with 9, and Javian Greenwood with 6.
