The Stratford Boys' Soccer Teams hosted Cy Springs in their first home game of the 2024-2025 season on Friday, December 20th. In the spirit of the season, both Stratford and Cy Springs worked collaboratively to help children receive toys for Christmas by donating new and unwrapped toys to Lily’s Toy Box. A big thank you to Jo Gifford and Ryan Gifford for helping to organize and deliver our toys!

In the first half of the Varsity game, our boys matched Cy Springs in possession and opportunities. In the 6th minute, Oliver Burdick had an attacking shot on goal that was deflected. Fardin Ansari was there to follow up, but the Cy Springs goalkeeper was there to push it just wide of the goal. In the 14th minute, Oliver Burdick made a great run with a cross to Hanno Waguespack, but the shot was saved by the Cy Springs goalkeeper. About a minute later, Davis Cooper made a sliding save, preventing a solid shot on goal.

The second half started strong for our boys. In the 9th minute, Hanno Waguespack made another attempt on goal with a charging 1 versus 1, but unfortunately, the goalkeeper was able to push the shot wide, preventing us from scoring. At the 12th minute, Theo Bigirimana played a through ball to Oliver Burdick, who was able to chip the goalkeeper to break the deadlock, putting Stratford ahead 1-0. After this, Cy Springs turned on the heat and our Spartans ended up falling with a final score of SHS 1 – Cy Springs 4.
