vs. Lake Creek High School: Tuesday, December 10 - Win 62-24

Following a very strong performance against Klein Cain, the JV Team continued its winning ways, jumping up to an 11-1 lead early in the first quarter. After securing the tip-off and an opening three-pointer from Jay Frazier, things were looking up for the Spartans. In addition to Frazier’s 3, Cody Hanlen, Teagan Tedrowand Will Ubell further added their own threes during the quarter.

Great defense including solid press led to many forced turnovers, combined improved passing, and shooting throughout the game. Up 33-9 at halftime, the team continued to pour it on in the 3rd quarter, never looking back. The whole team had a chance to participate on both ends of the court, leading to balanced scoring.

Ben Harris led the team with 14, followed by Cody Hanlen and Alex Harris with 8, Jaelaun Rosser added 7, Teagan Tedrow with 7, Gabe Elizondo with 5, Will Ubell with 3, and Anderson Fitzgerald with 2.

vs. Aldine Nimitz High School: Friday, December 13 - Win 72-52

On a rainy Friday night, the team traveled to Aldine Nimitz High School to play a spunky Nimitz team in a small, noisy gym. The Spartans won the tip-off again, leading to a quick two by Alex Harris, soon to be followed by a sweet three from Jay Frazier. Nimitz countered with a barrage of threes and some easy layups. As a consequence, Nimitz held onto a 17-16 lead at the end of the first quarter.

Stratford started to make headway in a solid second quarter, and it was 29-26 at the half. Once again, Stratford demonstrated what they can do when they move the ball around and when they are going aggressively for every possession, annihilating Nimitz in the 3rd quarter, outscoring them 25 to 9. Whatever is happening in those halftime sessions, it seems to be working!

Two of the boys excited the crowd with dunks during the course of the game, first an impressive two-handed throw-down by Xavier Jackson in the second quarter, and a one-hander in the 3rd by Ben HarrisEvery team member participated in the effort on the court.

The Spartans were led by Ben Harris with 19, followed by a breakout game from Cody Hanlen (scoring, assists, and all-important rebounds) at 11 points. Alex Harris put in 10 (a recipient of some of those Cody assists), Teagan Tedrow added 9 (including an important 3rd quarter 3). Xavier Jackson scored 6, Jaelaun Rosser had 6, Jay Frazier had 5, and Anderson Fitzgerald provided a sweet corner three early in the 4th.

The next two games will be at home versus Jersey Village (Tuesday) and Cy Fair (Friday) before the team heads to Christmas break.
