Volleyball Players Recognized for Spectacular, Historic Season!

Now that the final whistle has sounded, awards season has arrived, and Stratford has a number of players garnering recognition this postseason.

In District 17-6A, Audrey Cook and Gwen Koss have been named Co-MVPs. Tess Stephenson was honored as Newcomer of the Year. Avery KentLogan Sykes, and Rachel Ashby earned First Team All-District honors. Brooke McAfeeSydney Hatcher, and Milena Miladinovic were recognized for Second Team All-District. Caroline White and Lauren Dunwoody were named Honorable Mention All-District.

The Texas Girls Coaches’ Association released the 2024 Volleyball Academic All-State honorees. The follow Stratford seniors were recognized:

  • Rachel Ashby
  • Jenna Rae James
  • Avery Kent
  • Brooke McAfee
  • Sydney Pera
  • Evie Questell
  • Taylor Ricklefsen

The following THSCA Academic All-State awards were earned by Stratford seniors: Brooke McAfee was named to the Elite Team; Rachel AshbyAvery Kent, and Jenna Rae James were named 1st Team; and Sydney Pera was named 2nd Team.

Rachel Ashby and Avery Kent were named to AVCA Best and Brightest Academic Award list.

Audrey CookSarah Hickman, and Gwen Koss were named AVCA Phenoms.

Audrey Cook and Sarah Hickman were named to the AVCA All-Region team.

On the national scene, Sarah Hickman was named 1st Team All-American by AVCA and 2nd Team All- American by Max-Preps.

 

Stratford Volleyball also handed out honors at its annual banquet:

  • Offensive player of the year for Varsity was Gwen Koss.
  • Defensive player of year for Varsity was Rachel Ashby.
  • Co-MVP Audrey Cook and Gwen Koss were named Co-MVPs of Stratford.
  • Brooke McAfeeSydney Pera, and Caroline White earned the Keely Fitzpatrick Teammate of the Year award.
