vs. Cypress Bridgeland

This was a very exciting game for the Spartans! The game started negatively as senior Joaquin Andrews injured his ankle on the first play of the game and did not return, but the team responded very well. At the end of the first quarter, we led 13-11, with very balanced scoring. Trent Burke led us with five points, followed closely by JD Cheeves with four, and Elliot Harlan and Vasili Fakaris chipped in two points apiece.

In the second quarter, Bridgeland outscored us by 8 points to take a 26-21 halftime lead. In the third quarter, we outscored them by 4 but were still behind by one, 36-37. The third quarter was a personal highlight reel for JD Cheeves. He scored eight points in the quarter by slashing to the goal and dribbling coast-to-coast on drives to aggressively finish at the rim. Trent had five points, and Vasili had two in the quarter. The fourth quarter was a back-and-forth affair with many runs and exciting plays by both teams. Cameron Cocheu came into the game and led all fourth-quarter scorers with six clutch points, followed by Trent’s four points and Kobe’s one point. But the most important shots of the game were the two clutch free throws that JD made with 4 seconds to play to seal the game. Those were two critical free throws, and he drained them!!!! Those free throws allowed us to secure a 49-45 victory! What an exciting game!

Total scoring for the game was as follows: Trent Burke led us in scoring with 16, JD Cheeves was next with 15, Cameron Cocheu and Kobe Hines each contributed six points apiece, Vasili Fakaris chipped in with four points, and Kenneth Owens and Elliot Hines both scored two apiece.

vs. Klein Cain

We played Klein Cain on Saturday and lost a heartbreaker 49-53. We led throughout the game but could not make the key plays in the fourth quarter to be victorious. We competed hard and made some exciting plays, but it was not enough.

Next Week: We play two games next week. Our first game is Tuesday, December 10th, at home against Lake Creek. Freshman A plays at 4:00 pm, JV plays at 5:30 pm, and Varsity plays at 7:00 pm. We play again on Friday, December 13th, at Aldine Nimitz. Freshman A and B play at 4:00 pm, Sophomore and JV play at 5:30 pm, and Varsity plays at 7:00 pm.
