On November 21st, those qualifying on the Swim & Dive Team headed to Corpus Christi for the Hornet TISCA Invite taking place November 22nd-23rd. Stratford was highly successful! The boys finished in 1st place out of 15 teams with sophomore Saleem Hassoun taking the lone team 1st place finish in backstroke with a time of 53.98. The girls finished in 5th place and broke a pool record in the 200 free relay finishing in a time of 1:37.60 with junior Sophia Giesecke (24.65), junior Molly Kate Minyard (24.61), senior Elle Burke (23.87), and senior Izzy Glover (24.47)!

Diving earned us points on the boys’ side. Senior Korbin Irvine finished 2nd in the 1m competition with a score of 350.65. Sophomore Fernando Castillo finished 6th with 228.45.

This was a fast meet, but the Stratford Swim Team was deep in talent, leading to lots of relay and individual swims in the A finals (top 8 in prelims) and B finals (9th-16th in prelims) for lots of points! Here are those that made finals in the top 16:

• A Team was 4th (1:38.00) with Hassoun (back, 25.52), senior Ricky Conticello (breast, 27.40), senior Marin Pavlin (fly, 23.84), junior Brock Hunter (free, 21.24)
• B Team placed 8th (1:42.20) with senior Nathan Moss (back, 25.75), freshman Koki Yamamoto (breast, 27.89), junior Matthew Huntsman (fly, 24.52), senior Devon Beals (free, 23.32)
• C Team finished 14th (1:47.14) with junior Sam Brooks (back, 27.59), sophomore Wade Hicks (breast, 30.57), sophomore Christian Reyes-Torres (fly, 25.57), sophomore Luke Ickes (free, 23.41)

• A Team finished 1st with a pool record time of 1:37.60 as mentioned in the intro. Way to go, girls!
