Swim Team Competes at Annual Donut Meet, Boys Take 1st Place

On Friday, November 8th, SBISD Swim & Dive Teams hosted a prelims/finals meet at the SBISD Nat. Teams in attendance were Memorial, Spring Woods, Northbrook, Dripping Springs (now coached by the long-time coach for Stratford, Coach Hos), Cinco Ranch, Foster, Clear Creek, and Houston Christian. The Stratford boys were able to edge out Memorial to win the meet with 466.5 points to their 454.5. On the girls’ side, Stratford finished 4th with 309 points behind Memorial, Dripping Springs, and Cinco Ranch High Schools. DIVING

We had three divers in attendance that earned us lots of points. On the 1m board, Korbin Irvine finished 2nd with 336.10 points, and Fernando Castillo finished 7th with 128.90. For the girls, Makayla Legaspi finished 4th with 232.50.

For 3m diving, Irvine won 1st place for the boys with a score of 178.30, and Legaspi got 3rd with a score of 119.70 for the girls.

 

SWIMMING

There were many exciting swimming races. The atmosphere in the nat for finals was absolutely electric! Here is a summary of how Stratford finished in finals.

Girls 200 Free Relay

  • A Team won 1st (1:40.48) with Sophia Giesecke (24.42), Molly Kate Minyard (24.98), Sarah Beth Roady (26.43), Izzy Glover (24.25)
  • B Team placed 8th (1:51.95) with Emma McLean (29.75), Charlotte Moore (27.51), Lilli Oteiza (27.70), Emmie Hanvey (26.99)

 

Girls 200 Medley Relay

  • A Team was 3rd (1:54.72) with Glover (back, 29.13), Giesecke (breast, 31.22), Minyard (fly, 27.77), Roady (free, 26.60)
  • B Team was 8th (2:04.89) with Elizabeth Conner (back, 32.19), Paige Buri (breast, 35.61), Oteiza (fly, 29.72), Maria Luisa Becerra Arreola (free, 27.37)

 

Boys 200 Medley Relay

  • A Team took 4th (1:39.99) with Saleem Hassoun (back, 25.49), Ricky Conticello (breast, 27.97), Vince Nguyen (fly, 24.32), Brock Hunter (free, 22.21)

 

Boys 200 Free Relay

  • A Team won 1st (1:28.30) with James Hackney (21.91), Marin Pavlin (22.12), Hunter (21.80), Julian Hemmer (22.47)
  • B Team was 6th (1:30.33) with Nguyen (22.83), Wade Hicks (23.22), Hassoun (21.80), Conticello (22.48)

 

Boys 400 Free Relay

  • A Team placed 3rd (3:15.32) with Hemmer (48.48), Pavlin (49.42), Nathan Moss (48.70), Hackney (48.72)
