The Spartans hit the road on election night to visit the Heights Bulldogs. The Spartans wouldn’t have to wait till the wee hours of the morning to see who would declare victory. It wasn’t red or blue, but a bright shade of Stratford Green.

The girls came out quickly as Claire Kadane got things going with a quick layup off the tip. Allie Moss made a steal on the next possession and took it to the hole. The Spartan defense didn’t allow the Dogs to catch their breath from here on out. The pile of points kept coming as Stella Weiss got a bucket and was quickly joined by Brooke Sponselwho scored off a rebound. Aniyah Cunningham drove for two layups as well. Claire then added a three-pointer, another two, and a free throw. Zoe Thompson came in and went straight to work,  making steal after steal and dropping in eight quick points for the quarter. The game was well in hand after one, Stratford leading 24-2.

The rest of the game was much more of the same. All the girls played great defense and moved the ball well. Allie got another bucket in the second along with multiple assists. Stella went to work inside and out, adding eight points for the quarter, including a step-back three-pointer. Brooke continued to dominate the boards and added another four points. Zoe dropped in another bucket, and Claire got to the line for a free throw. The combination of Aniyah, Madison Williams, Elyse Johnson, and Reese Opperman helped to stifle Height’s scoring, as they didn’t score a single point in the quarter. Reese got in on the point parade by stealing a pass and going coast-to-coast for a layup. She added another two driving layups for the quarter as well. At the end of the first half, Stratford held a 47-2 lead.

The third and fourth were more of the same. Coach Hornbeak had the Spartans pull back a bit, but the points kept coming. It was good to see them move the ball around and work on set plays. Brooke added another six points in the second half. Allie added four more, Aniyah got three, and Claire and Zoe closed things out with a bucket apiece. It was a good all-around win for Stratford with a landslide victory of 64-6.
