The top individuals and teams from across Texas faced off last weekend at the UIL State Cross Country Championship. Classes 2A, 4A, and 6A competed on Friday and 1A, 3A, and 5A competed on Saturday at Old Settlers Park in Round Rock. It was familiar territory for Senior Ben Pearcewho qualified for the 3rd straight year. Qualifying for State is no small achievement, and being there is a reward for years of dedication and hard work.

Pearce wrapped up his high school cross country career with an impressive 20th place finish. He went out fast with the leaders going for a podium finish before fading the last mile. Ben wanted to go for it all in his last high school cross country race, leaving nothing on the course. With his senior cross country season in the books, he’ll be looking to return to the State Track Meet this spring.

Congratulations to Ben. Stratford America is very proud of you! A heartfelt thank you to Coach Parmley, Coach CJ, Coach Huntsman, and Coach Salinas for their commitment to Stratford Cross Country. What a season!
