The Varsity Spartans went out with a BANG wrapping up Fall Ball with a big win against Memorial 12-5 last Monday! Memorial started off scoring one run in the first inning, and Stratford answered back with two runs after Gwyn Katterhenry drew a walk, Layla Yslas singled to left field, and Shelby Thibodeaux hit a double to right centerfield. Stratford got out of a bases loaded, one-out situation in the second inning, not allowing any runs to score.

Stratford had a huge third inning, when they capitalized on a couple of Memorial errors, walks drawn by Sophie Donnel and Callie Piercy, a single by Ava Esparza, another walk by Darcy Broaddus, and a double by Cacey Valencia. Memorial again was held to zero runs after a 1-2-3 out inning. Stratford added another three runs in the third inning after another couple of errors by Memorial, coupled with a single by Katterhenry. Memorial tried to come back in the fourth inning, adding four runs. Stratford sealed Memorial's fate after Brooklyn Marks drew a walk and then Freshman Marielle Kiersh hit a two-run HOMERUN, followed by a single by Donnel. Stratford defense continues to improve. Katterhenry (2 IP, 1K) started in the circle, and Kiersh (2 IP, 1K) came in for relief.

Both Varsity and Junior Varsity teams had successful outings in Fall Ball and are looking forward to being back on the field together in January!
