The Spartan Girls Water Polo Team wrapped up their regular season this week, hosting National #1 Richmond Foster at the SBISD Natatorium.
The squad played the two-time defending State Champions tough, but despite aggressive defense in the field and great goals by Hana Riley and Elizabeth Conner, the Spartans couldn’t contain the high-powered Foster offense.
Final – Stratford 2, Foster 22
Competing (twice) in the pool with the National #1 team sums up a fabulous season for the Spartan girls - they have proven they can play with the best! The team has seen amazing growth this fall due to the wonderful work of the coaching staff to ensure that the team is facing stiff competition. (This season the team matched up with six of the current top-ten teams in the State, and ten of the top twenty.) And thanks to the coaches for adding additional games in prestigious state-wide tournaments to the early season schedule. All the hard work and hard-fought games have earned the team a season to be proud of, second place in District (with a sweep of Memorial), first-time wins over longtime rivals, and a MaxPreps ranking as the #21 Girls Water Polo team in Texas heading into the post-season!
Next Up: The Spartans begin their playoff Run this Tuesday (the 8th) at the CFISD Natatorium where they will face Langham Creek at 6:00 pm – everyone is encouraged to come out and cheer on the Spartans!
