Varsity Softball continues dominant play in Fall Ball, last week taking on Lamar and Incarnate Word in a double-header Monday night, and walking away with a 3-0 record.

vs. Lamar

They first faced Lamar, who lost their senior pitcher from last year and proved to be outmatched both offensively and defensively this year. Junior Gwyn Katterhenry (4Ks in 3 IP) and Freshman Marielle Kiersh (1IP) threw a combined shutout, while offensively, the Spartans racked up 9 hits and 10 walks. Junior Aashna Kapoor led the Spartans going 2 for 2 with 4 RBIs, and Senior Allison Hibbetts went 2 for 3 with 2 RBIs. The Spartans then made a statement in a 23-0 shutout in the second game against Incarnate Word. Kiersh (2Ks in 1 IP) and Kapoor (2Ks in 3 IP) threw a combined no-hitter. Kiersh and Senior Darcy Broaddus led the offense, each going 2 for 3, assisted by Freshman Azalea Moreno, who went 1 for 2 with 3 RBIs. The Spartans had a total of 11 hits and 12 walks. The Spartans look to take on some stiffer competition this week facing Bellaire and St. Agnes in another double-header night.
