Week three brought us another nail-biting, barn-burning, breath-taking, close-call battle. This time, in a far distant land they call Kingwood.
The first quarter was dominated by the defenses and ended 0-0. Stratford got the offense moving in the second quarter with production from Jack Sullivan, Ben Roberts, and Jaelaun Rosser. Gavin Guzman gave Stratford a 6-0 lead with a 27-yard scramble for a touchdown. Kamari Williams recovered a fumble soon after, stopping Kingwood from tying the game before halftime.
In the end, the clock ran out with a 7-6 loss, and the boys fell to 1-2 for the season. A mere two plays away from being 3-0, it has been a game of inches.
Up next is Cy Creek at home on September 26 after a restful bye week.
Go Spartans!
