Week 2 of the 2024 Stratford JV Green season was another barn burner full of lots of defense. This week, the Spartans pulled out the win and evened their record at 1-1.

Oak Ridge took the opening kickoff to the 25-yard line, where Colton Barber made the tackle. The first half was full of back-and-forth great defensive battles. The highlights were a 4th and 2 sack by Aiden Wheeler and a clutch sack by Cade Gronseth (one of many for Gronseth on the night). The first half wrapped with a 0-0 score.

The second half was also full of great defense, but Stratford managed to put together an early drive. A huge 4th and 5 conversion with a Gavin Guzman pass to Ben Roberts helped get the ball to the 20-yard line. Bernardo Sanchez hit a clutch 37-yard field goal to put Stratford up 3-0. On the next drive, Guzman hit Quincy McCall in stride for a 75-yard touchdown. After a blocked extra point, Stratford led 9-0.

Oak Ridge managed to score a TD with a 2-point conversion, but Stratford held on for the first win, 9-8. Congrats to the boys and coaches on a hard-fought win. Many more to come!
