Playoffs - Regional Quarterfinals - Stratford vs. Jordan High School – 04.02.24
On Tuesday, April 2, 2024 – the Stratford Girls Varsity Soccer Team traveled to Rhodes Stadium in Katy to face Jordan High School in the Regional Quarterfinals of the 2024 State Playoffs. A majority of the game was controlled by the Stratford offense, which included a goal by Junior Allison Goodwin in the 31st minute of the first half, but the green & white were not able to convert on several opportunities in the second half of the match, while allowing a goal by Jordan High School - which tied the game at 1-1 in regulation. The game remained scoreless in both overtime periods and eventually went to penalty kicks. Both goalies played outstandingly, but the Lady Warriors were able to notch one final goal in sudden death that would advance them to the Regional Semi-Finals.
This was not how the Spartans thought they would finish the season – however, they have a lot to be proud of. Coming into this final game the Lady Spartans had one of their best seasons in the history of the program, which included -- a 20-2-4 final overall record, an undefeated 13-0-1 District record, an amazing 122 goals for vs. 14 goals against record, and they were crowned District Champs for the third consecutive year. This squad only loses one Senior starter and should be poised to make a deep run in 2025.
As a testament to the talent level on this team, the following awards were recently voted on by the coaches in our District and around the state:
1st Team All-District
2nd Team All-District
3rd Team All-District
