The Spartans are well into their second round of District play, currently in 3rd place. They went 1-1 this week with Cy Creek and Northbrook, and are looking to add two more wins to the board against Spring Woods and Cy Ridge this week. Friday, April 12th is teacher appreciation night between the JV and Varsity games. Come watch your Spartans show some LOVE to their favorite teachers!

vs. Cy Creek – Loss (3-8)

Cy Creek got revenge on Tuesday from a previous 1-2 loss to the Spartans earlier in the season. Cy Creek hitting came out strong, and the Spartans were unable to stack hits together to convert to runs.

Cy Creek got on the board first, scorning 3 runs in the first inning. The Spartans answered back with 1 run after Layla Yslas doubled and Aashna Kapoor singled. Cy Creek added one more run in each of the 3rd and 4th innings, and then 3 runs in the 6th. The Spartans tried to rally late in the 7th inning when Jessica Youngblood singled, followed by a walk drawn by Callie Piercy and a double by Gwyn Katterhenry. Aashlyn Bell added a single, but it was too little too late. Katterhenry took the loss for the Spartans, pitching 6 innings and striking out 6.

vs. Northbrook – Win (11-1)

The Spartans defeated Northbrook 11-1 on Friday, scoring 6 runs in the 1st inning. The Raiders were just outmatched as Stratford’s offense only collected 3 hits on the night, singles by Aashna Kapoor and Caroline Chamberlain (who had 2 RBIs), and an inside-the-park homerun by Darcy Broaddus! Kapoor earned the win for the Spartans, shutting Northbrook down in a quick 5-inning run rule.
