Stratford JV Spartans vs. Northbrook JV Raiders, Tuesday, March 26th

Stratford won big over the Northbrook JV Raiders, 19-1. Stratford got on the board in the first inning with a double by Peter Vescovo scoring 2 runs. The Spartans added to their early lead in the second inning after Cody Hanlen singled, Chris Johnson doubled, Anthony Castillo singled, and Luke Tamez singled, each scoring one run. A single by Matthew deJager and a single by Castillo helped extend the lead in the 3rd inning. Jackson Golden earned the win for Stratford on the mound, striking out two. Cole Youngblood (1 IP, 3 K’s) and Nick Gioco (1IP, 2 K’s) also contributed an impressive performance on the mound, with William Coates and Carsten Vasut each throwing scoreless innings for Stratford in relief.

The Spartans collected 11 hits in the game with deJager, Castillo, and Vescovo each collecting two hits, and Castillo and Vescovo each drove in two runs for the Spartans. Northbrook surrendered eight walks for the game. Levi Lease and Jackson Fulweber both added a single to help wrap up the win.

Stratford JV Spartans vs. Northbrook JV Raiders, Thursday, March 28th

The Spartans featured more of the same in the second game against the Raiders, scoring five runs on three hits at the bottom of the third inning. Gavin Mundwiller singled scoring one run, and Ryan Lamon doubled scoring two runs. Pacer Daniel had a strong pitching performance earning the win for Stratford, striking out two. Ranes Denman (1 IP, 3 K’s) and William Tacker (1IP, 3 K’s) helped to quiet the Northbrook bats, with Levi Lease and Peter Vescovo adding scoreless innings in relief.

Stratford accumulated nine hits with Lamon leading the offense with two runs batted in, going 2 for 3 for the day. Sammy Salas, Chris Johnson, Zach Christie, Jackson Fulweber, Matthew deJager, and Jack Sullivan each contributed a single in the game, sealing up the win for the Spartans, 13-1.

The JV Spartans will take the field again this Tuesday, April 2nd vs.  the Spring Woods JV Tigers in the Stratford Backyard and travel to Spring Woods to face the Tigers at 4 pm on Friday April 5th.
