Stratford JV Spartans vs. Cy Creek JV Cougars – Tuesday, March 19

Stratford scored seven runs in the second inning, which helped defeat the Cy Creek Cougars, 10-1. Brandon Phillips, Chris Johnson, and Anthony Castillo all doubled, each scoring one run. Zach Christie hit a sacrifice fly scoring one run, Ryan Lamon doubled scoring two runs, and Ranes Denman singled scoring one run.

Denman earned the win for Stratford, and he surrendered zero hits and zero runs over 3 innings. Carsten Vasut came in to pitch one inning, and Cody Hanlen pitched one inning of shutout ball in relief.

The game was powered on offense with Stratford collecting 11 hits in the game. Luke Tamez and Denman were a force together in the lineup, as they each collected two hits while hitting back-to-back. Christie, Jackson Fulweber, and Jack McAfee all collected one hit, and McAfee led Stratford with two walks. Overall, the team had a strong eye at the plate, tallying seven walks for the game. Stratford turned one double play in the game. It was a great group effort to bring the win!

Stratford JV Spartans vs. Cy Creek JV Cougars – Friday, March 22

The JV Spartans dominated the Cougars last Friday with a 19-0 win, demonstrating powerful and consistent hitting. Peter Vescovo’s grand slam, Cole Youngblood’s home run, and Nick Gioco’s triple were game highlights, followed by doubles from Chris Johnson, Brandon Phillips, Ranes Denman, Ryan Lamon, and Zach Christie. More hits were collected by William Coates, Sammy Salas, and Carston Vasut. Defensively, the pitching team of Levi Lease, Pacer Daniel, Nick Gioco, and Jackson Fulweber kept the game to only hit by the Cougars. More defensive teamwork kept the Cougars from scoring when outfielder Gavin Mundwiller fielded to shortstop Jack McAfee to catcher Sammy Salas, throwing out the runner at home.

The JV Spartans will take the field again this Tuesday, March 26 vs. the Northbrook JV Raiders at Northbrook and return to face the Raiders in the Stratford Backyard at 4 pm on Thursday, March 28.
