Varsity Boys Soccer wrapped up the season last week with Senior Night against Memorial and the last game of the season at Jersey Village.

3/5: Memorial Mustangs

The Spartans hosted the Mustangs Friday night and it was a wild one. Stratford was quick out of the gate with several early shots on goal by Everett Dwyer. Memorial countered with a few shots and a dangerous set piece resulting in a header that was saved by Cooper Davis. The Mustangs struck first with a goal on a penalty kick in the 15th minute. 0-1

Just a few minutes later, a few defensive miscues gave a Memorial forward a one-on-one opportunity that resulted in goal to go up 0-2. Stratford almost evened it up around the 30th minute, when Dwyer stole the ball passed to Lorenzo Maule, who crossed to the middle, where Fabu Ndayishimiye controlled and two-touched the ball for a shot into goal! But it was called back on a late offsides call. Unfortunately, our goal did not count.

The Spartans attacked the goal the rest of the half with shots by DwyerSanti Chelala, and Fabu but could not get into the net.

Halftime 0-2

The second half was back-and-forth for the majority with Memorial down a man after a red card. The Spartans had several opportunities, creating many nice team plays resulting in shots on goal by Jasper HartmanDwyerChelala, and Dawson Burgett, but they just couldn’t get one to fall.

Final 0-2 Memorial.

3/8: Jersey Village Falcons

The Spartans started out on the defensive Friday night, with Jersey Village taking every opportunity to take a shot on goal, with the first shot at the 1st minute of the game, a dangerous header from a far left cross, but out wide. Just a few minutes later, a Falcon forward broke through the defense and took a shot that was blocked away by Cooper Davis. Cooper was really working Friday night with another four spectacular saves in the first half.

In the 4th minute, Jersey Village got on the board, 0-1. In the 16th minute, the Spartans attacked with two shots, leading to two corners. The first one crossed by Santi Chelala to Lorenzo Maule, whose header was grabbed by the keeper. The second was another cross by Chelala, this time to Fabu Ndayishimiye, whose shot went just over the crossbar. With 10 minutes left in the first half, Jersey Village scored on a corner to a header for a goal to go up, 0-2.

Halftime 0-2

The second half was all Jersey Village. Jack Bermack was able to save a few shots, but the Falcons piled on another 6 goals before it was all done.

Final Jersey Village 0-8.
