vs. Northbrook – Win (19-5)

The Stratford Varsity Spartans jumped out to the lead in the top of the first inning when Allison Hibbetts hit into a fielder’s choice, but two runs scored. Alessia Avalos was struck by a pitch, driving in a run. Stratford added to their early lead in the top of the second inning when Layla Yslas singled, scoring one run, Hibbetts doubled, scoring two runs, and Gwyn Katterhenry hit a sacrifice fly, scoring one run. A single by Isabela Sanchez extended the lead to 9-0 in the top of the third inning. The Spartans continued to add to the score,  scoring 5 runs on 3 hits in the top of the 4th inning. Ava Esparza doubled, Darcy Broaddus drew a walk scoring 1 run, Aashna Kapoor singled scoring 1 run, and Callie Piercy grounded out scoring 1 run. They scored 5 runs on 4 hits in the top of the 6th inning when Sanchez lined out, scoring 1 run, Ashlyn Bell singled scoring 2 runs, and Avalos singled scoring 1 run. Elizabeth McGuire, Kapoor, and Katterhenry each collected 2 hits each. Katterhenry earned the win for the Spartans,  surrendering 0 hits and 4 runs (1 earned) over 4 innings, striking out 6. Kapoor appeared in relief and finished out the game with the last 2 innings.

vs. Spring Woods – Win (17-1)

Allison Hibbetts and Layla Yslas combined together for 8 RBIs in the Spartans' win against the Northbrook Raiders on Friday. The Spartans scored 10 runs in the second inning on the way to victory. Isabela Sanchez singled, Aashna Kapoor doubled, Hibbetts homered to left field, and Jessica Youngblood doubled scoring 2 more runs. The Spartans scored 5 runs on 3 hits in the bottom of the third inning. Yslas tripled, scoring 3 runs, and Sophie Donnel singled, scoring 2 more runs. Donnel and Kapoor each went 3-3 at the plate. Gwyn Katterhenry earned the win for the Spartans. She pitched 1 inning allowing no hits and one run (0 earned), striking out 2, and walking 2. Kapoor came in for relief allowing 2 hits and zero runs, walking 0, and striking out 2.
