The Spartans hosted Cy Creek this week in their second District game and came away with a hard fought win!

vs. Cy Creek – Win (2-1)

The Stratford Varsity Spartans and the Cypress Creek Cougars were both strong in the circle last Wednesday in the Spartans'  second District outing. Both teams were scoreless through two innings. Cy Creek got on the board first with one run in the third inning. The Spartans answered back scoring 2 runs in the bottom of the third inning with back-to-back RBIs by Layla Yslas and Allison Hibbetts. Both teams stayed in it until the end, but no more runs were scored. Aashna Kapoor and Hibbetts each collected two hits, and Ashlyn Bell and Elizabeth McGuire each collected one hit, but that is all the offense needed to secure the win!

The Spartans showed some outstanding defense. Jessica Youngblood in right field was involved in 9 plays, including 4 line drives/fly balls caught for outs, which was a huge game changer for the Spartans. Kapoor started on the mound for the Spartans and earned the win, giving up 4 hits and one run. Katterhenry threw 3 innings in relief and collected the save.
