The Stratford Boys Freshman A Basketball Team finished a great season this past week!

vs. Jersey Village

The Freshman A Spartans started the final stretch of the season with a tough away matchup against Jersey Village, looking to avenge a close loss earlier this season. The Falcons came out running on the Spartans in the first quarter though, putting the Spartans in a 25-7 deficit after Q1. The Spartans fought hard and held tough in the remainder of the game but could never cut too far into the early lead and ended up taking a 76-59 loss. Against Jersey Village, the Spartans were led in scoring by Jackie Hope (17), Gabe Moctezuma (11), and Connor Wohlfahrt (9).

vs. Cy Fair

Looking to bounce back from the loss against Jersey Village, the Freshman A Spartans came out strong in their only matchup this season against Cy Fair. The Spartans took a 25-21 lead into halftime but could not hold off Cy Fair in the second half, losing a close one 46-55. Against Cy Fair, the Spartans were led in scoring by Asa Rigo (12), Jackie Hope (12), and three players with 5 each (Teagan Tedrow, John Briggs, and Ryan White).

vs. Cy Creek

In the final game of the season, the Freshman A Spartans finished a very competitive District schedule with a great, well-earned win at Cy Creek. After jumping out to a 17-9 lead in Q1, the game went into the fourth quarter with the Spartans ahead of the Cougars 37-33. The boys held off a furious Cy Creek comeback attempt, with Francisco Blanco sealing the final District win in the 4th quarter at the free throw line, going 5-6 from the charity stripe. Stratford ended the game with a hard-fought victory, 50-44. Against Cy Creek, for the first time this season, all 10 players on the Stratford team scored in the game! Leading the way in scoring against Cy Creek were Teagan Tedrow (12), John Briggs (9), and Francisco Blanco (7).

After the great team win against Cy Creek, the Freshman A Spartans ended the season 19-8 and 9-4 in District. It was a wonderful season overall for the Freshman A squad, with contributions from the entire team and a great coaching effort from Coach Hall. Thank you boys for letting us watch you play this season!
