SHS vs. Jersey Village (2/7)

Jersey Village was ready for this game even without their leading scorer. It was easy to see that the team was focused from the first tip and they did not let up at all during the game. But we matched their energy throughout the game and fought through questionable refereeing to come out with a methodical 68-51 road victory. Without their leading scorer, Jersey Village's offense was much more balanced, and it caused us some issues early. But we settled down, relied on our seniors Wes Wohlfahrt and Seven Francis to handle their press, and it allowed us to comfortably get the victory.

We were led in scoring by JD Cheeves with 22 points, Joaquin Andrews scored 13, Seven contributed six, his brother Shia contributed five along with Elliot Harlan. Vasili Fakaris and Jalen Jefferson each chipped in with four, Wes provided three points, and Cameron Coucheu scored two. Great game!

SHS vs. Cy Fair (2/10)

What a game! What a turnaround from the last time we played them at Cy Fair when we lost to them by 20 points!!!! Cy Fair came into the game undefeated in District play. From the opening tip, our boys were focused and ready to play. We ended the first quarter leading 14-2. Joaquin Andrews got called for his second foul and was taken out of the game. Cy Fair immediately took advantage and went on a huge run and took a 17-16 lead with 2 minutes to play before half. We ended the half down by three, 19-16.

2nd half was our half. Our defense was very aggressive as the communication among the team was noticeable and the quick closeouts to shooters were huge. We harassed their leading scorer the entire game. We methodically fought back in the second half to take a small three-point lead going into the fourth quarter.

The fourth quarter was a back-and-forth affair. We had a three-point lead with two minutes remaining, when Jalen Jefferson stole the ball in the front court, went down, and threw down a thunderous dunk to put us up by five. From there we held them at bay, and they had to resort to fouling us to try to get back in the game. We could have iced the game by making our free throws, but we missed five straight free throws until Joaquin Andrews made his two free-throws to basically seal the game. We then proceeded to miss four more free-throws, but we were able to pull out the 44-38 victory on Senior Night!!!!!

The leading scorers for the game were Joaquin with 13 points and Vasili Fikaris with 12. Wes Wohlfahrt scored seven, Jalen Jefferson and JD Cheeves each contributed four points, and Shia Francis chipped in with three.

This victory guaranteed at least a tie for second place in District. We end the regular season against Cy Creek, who is in third place and can tie us for second if they beat us Wednesday at Creek. Big road game for us this coming Wednesday.

Special shoutout to the JV Cheerleaders. The Varsity Cheerleaders could not make it to the game, but the JV cheerleaders stepped up in their place!!!! They always seemed to be there for us this year and we really enjoyed their cheers!! Thank you very much for your support!!!!
