vs. Memorial

The Spartans had an early game on Saturday morning with a home game against Memorial. The Spartans beat Memorial in the two prior meetings, and it was clear that Memorial was ready to challenge the Spartans this round. Both teams played a heavily defensive game, really challenging each team’s offense. The first quarter ended with the Spartans up 12-11. This continued in the second quarter with the Spartans only adding an additional 11 points and limiting the Mustangs to 14. Things really heated up in the second half. There were constant steals and heavy defense for both teams, and neither team was letting up. The third quarter ended with Memorial up by one, 42-43. The fourth quarter continued back and forth. The Spartans were down by two with two seconds left when Jaelaun Rosser dropped in a game-tying layup, sending the Spartans into their first overtime. The first round of overtime started with the teams tied at 59. The first four-minute overtime was an intense competition that ultimately ended in a second overtime. The Spartans powered through the second overtime, but ultimately fell to the Mustangs with a score of 70-75. What an incredible game and team effort. This was a nail-biter and had everyone on their feet until the bitter end. The Spartans were led by Anderson Fitzgerald with 25 points, followed by Ben Harris with 11, Jaelaun Rosser with 8, Sebastian Hardy with 7, Henry Bany with 5, Jack Seely and Beckett Swilling with 4 each, and Ryan Sakolosky and AJ West with 3.
