2024 District 17-6A Varsity Championship

On Saturday, January 17th, your Stratford Varsity Swim Team headed to the Cy Fair Nat in the early afternoon to do some damage, and the mission was successful! We were District Champs in five individual events and in two relays. The men’s team squeaked by Memorial with a 6-point advantage to become District Champs and the women’s team took 3rd overall.

Julian Hemmer and Nathan Moss both had perfect meets, winning 1st place in each of their events. Nathan was named Swimmer of the Meet (although Julian was equally deserving). Elle Burke was the District Champion in the 100 backstroke, and Jack Robertson, a freshman, missed being District Champion in the 100 back by only 0.01 s! And if all that wasn’t enough, Coach Casandra Brisbin was named the Men’s Swimming Coach of the Year. Many thanks to Coach Joseph McCommons and Coach Blocker Duncan too. Congratulations also to Coach Jason Mauss of Memorial for being named the Women’s Swimming Coach of the Year. It was an SBISD sweep for coaches of the year!

It was a fantastic afternoon for all the athletes with many PBs. Individuals and relays placing in the top 6 advance to Regional Competition. In total, 29 entries are advancing and all six of our relays!! Let’s go, Stratford Swimming! For full official meet results, click HERE.

• 200 Free Relay (1:26.85) was District Champion with Hemmer (21.70), Pavlin (21.63), Nguyen (21.94), Hackney (21.58)
• 400 Free Relay (3:09.25) was District Champion with Hemmer (47.29), Robertson (49.00), Moss (47.05), Hackney (45.91!!)
• 200 Medley Relay (1:38.58) was 2nd with Robertson (back, 25.17), Hunter (breast, 27.30), Nguyen (fly, 24.26), Pavlin (free, 21.85)
