1.17.24 JV-A Stratford vs. Sam Houston

Re-scheduled from the prior day due to freezing temperatures, our JV-A Spartans went to the pitch with high expectations for the final pre-season game against a strong Sam Houston squad. The Spartans started the game with a few opportunities for goals, led by Bernardo Sanchez and Oliver Burdick but were unable to capitalize. Unfortunately, at the seven-minute mark, Sam Houston did capitalize on a free shot from the right side, with their player finding a hole in the wall that left goalie Pablo Reyes with no opportunity to react. We tried to recover, however Sam Houston tightened their defense and made it difficult for our Spartans.

In the second half, there were not many opportunities for either team. The Stratford defense, led by Carson RushingJonah YimBraden Oliphant, and Kevin Espinosadid a good job repelling the attacks of our opponent and largely preventing any quality shots on goal. Sam Houston 1, Spartans 0.

Overall, it was a good game that left us with a lot of expectations for our season opener on January 23rd against Cy Fair.
