It was a cold night for Freshman/JV-B Soccer on Wednesday evening. The 6 pm game was shortened into 20 minute halves due to rescheduling caused by inclement weather. During the first half, the clock ticked quickly as much of the time was spent in mid-field play with few opportunities to push the ball down the field to make shots on goal. The Spartan defense did a nice job holding the opposition, Sam Houston, and the score at the end of the half was 0-0.

The second half of the game consisted of more offensive and defensive play. Three minutes in, the referee called a penalty on the Spartans, and the opposition managed to score on the penalty kick,  bringing the score to 0-1. Spartan goalie, Erich Cheng, made several strong saves in the second half. Unfortunately, just seconds before the clock ran out, Sam Houston took a shot that hit the top of the goal post and rebounded into the goal. In the remaining seconds, the Spartans made a great effort to take the ball to the other side of the field but quickly ran out of time. Ending score was Spartans 0, Sam Houston 2.
