1.9.24 JV-A Stratford vs. Klein

JV-A Stratford Boys Soccer hosted its first home game of the season last Tuesday night in chilly and windy conditions against the Klein Bearcats. Stratford scored early and often to stake a 2-0 halftime lead that ended in a 5-0 victory.

Oliver Burdick was the star of the game, netting a hat trick for the Spartans. Burdick started scoring at the 17 min. mark with a crisp shot from the top of the box into the net for the early 1-0 lead. Two minutes later, Burdick netted a second goal off a long ball by fullback Jonah Yim inside the right side of the box, that left Burdick one-on-one versus the Bearcat goalkeeper.

The second half started with more of the same, with Burdick securing his hat trick two minutes into the second half on a shot from the 6 yard box, assisted by Bernardo Sanchez's low cross from the left side. Adding to his assist, Sanchez scored a goal of his own 6 minutes later on a through ball to the middle of the box, putting the Spartans up 4-0 at the 8 minute mark in the 2nd half. The Spartans' scoring was completed with a goal off a penalty kick that went low and left and into the net off of the foot of striker Theo Bigirimana. The Spartan defense and goalkeeper Pablo Reyes had an outstanding game and secured their first clean sheet of the season. Spartans 5 - Klein 0
