SHS vs. Klein (12/12)

The first game after our Port Arthur Tournament was on the road against Klein. Very good match-up, but we played shorthanded as Wes Wohfahrt was under the weather and as a precaution, was held out of the game. We competed very well, but really could have used his outside shot. The game was back and forth, with both teams making big runs throughout the contest. Klein shot the ball extremely well in the first half and had a six-point lead at halftime.

In the second half, our defense really tightened up and created several turnovers that allowed us to claw back into the game. We took a brief lead with 2 minutes to play, and the lead changed hands a couple of times in that two-minute period. With fifteen seconds to play, Elliot Harlan made two free throws to put us up by one. Klein advanced the ball and called a time out with seven seconds. They took the ball out from the side, and their point guard took the ball from the top of the key and dribbled to the right wing and shot a 15-footer that went in as time expired. Final score was 43-42. It was a hard way to lose a game, but it is clear we are competing and getting better each game.

Jalen Jefferson led the team in scoring with 11 points. Elliot Harlan was second with 10 points, and Shia Francis contributed nine points. Vasili Fakaris contributed five, Seven Francis provided a three pointer, and Joaquin Andrews and JD Cheeves each chipped in with two points.

SHS vs Northbrook (12/15)

With our non-conference schedule complete, we opened our District competition with a game against Northbrook at home. It was an excellent bounce-back game for us and allowed us to start District 1-0. We were led in scoring by Vasili Fakaris and Cameron Coucheu with 12 points each. Jalen Jefferson and JD Cheeves had  10 points each. Seven Francis had nine points, Joaquin Andrews had eight points, Wes Wohfahrt had 7 points, Parker Johnson had five points, Shia Francis had 4 points, and Luke Covington had two points.

SHS vs Spring Woods (12/19)

We then travelled to Spring Woods for our first away District game. We played well, especially defensively, with our full-court defensive pressure. We created multiple turnovers, which led to extra scoring possessions and three impressive slam dunks by Shia Francis!!!!! Final score was 77-42. We were led in scoring by Wes Wohfahrt with 24 points, Joaquin Andrews with 13 points, and JD Cheeves and Shia Francis each scoring 10 points. Vasili Fakaris contributed seven points, Jalen Jefferson chipped in with four, Seven Francis added a three-pointer, and Elliot Harlan, Parker Johnson, and Kenneth Owen each contributed two points.
