The Freshman/JV-B Boys Soccer Team had a terrific first appearance at their scrimmage against Klein Collins Friday afternoon.

The boys started out strong with a primarily offensive first half. #19 Sasha Otero was the first Spartan to put a point on the board with a nice shot past the opposing goalie. Midway through the first half, the Spartans executed a corner kick that resulted in a hand-ball inside the box from the opposing team. The penalty kick was taken by #10 Elias Morales. Klein Collins’ goalie defected the ball, but Morales reacted quickly to score off the rebound. Although the Spartans kept the ball on the offensive side of midfield for the majority of the first half, Klein Collins managed a few break-throughs resulting in several great saves by Spartan goalie, #00 Eric Cheng.

With the second half came the rain. However, the Spartans kept their focus. A nicely placed corner kick was met by #16 Mohammed Al-Mohammed, who scored on a powerful header into the goal. Shortly after, Klein Collins managed to take the ball down and score, bringing the score to 3-1. However, the Spartans were not shaken. The team finished out the game with a break-away by #8 Hudson Hennessey. The opposing goalie ran out of the box, and Hennessey was able to shoot the ball diagonally and place it into the bottom right corner of the goal.

It was a great team effort by the Freshman/JV-B boys! The final score for Friday’s scrimmage was Stratford Spartans 4, Klein Collins 1.
