Freshman A Boys Basketball Falls to Klein Collins But Beats Klein, Northbrook

The Stratford Freshman Boys A Basketball Team finished non-District play and started District competition this past week.

vs. Klein Collins

Coming off the Thanksgiving break last week, the Freshman A Spartans faced Klein Collins in a tough away game. After a back-and-forth first half, which found the Spartans trailing Klein Collins 33-30 at halftime, Klein Collins pulled away in the second half with a strong performance, handing the Spartans a 78-48 loss. Against Klein Collins, the Spartans were led in scoring by Jackie Hope (12), Gabe Moctezuma (8), and Jackson Lisle (7).

The Spartans finished non-District play with a dominant away win over Klein on Tuesday. After a close first half that ended with a 26-19 halftime lead, the Spartans took over in the second half, putting together strong team offense and defense and finishing the game with a 61-43 victory. The Spartans were led in scoring against Klein by Asa Rigo (15), followed by Cannon Thompson (10), Francisco Blanco (8), and Teagan Tedrow (8).

 

vs. Northbrook

On Friday, the Freshman A Spartans opened up District play against Northbrook at home. After opening up a halftime lead of 38-29, the Spartans suffocated Northbrook on defense in the second half, holding the Raiders to nine second-half points and finishing the game with an 83-38 victory. The Spartans had a balanced game with nine players scoring and were led by Ryan White (16), Teagan Tedrow (12), and Connor Wohlfahrt (10).

After this week’s games, the Freshman A Spartans now sit at 11-4 on the year, and 1-0 in District. The team has one more District game against Spring Woods this Tuesday before breaking for the holidays. Go Spartans!
