The Stratford Boys Freshman A Basketball Team had another busy week, playing five games in as many days, beginning with a win against Spring DeKaney on Tuesday and ending on a high with three straight wins (after a first-round loss) to claim the Consolation Championship title in the Cy Fair ISD Freshman Boys Tournament!

vs. DeKaney

Tuesday’s game against Spring DeKaney was a 47-35 victory, with the Spartans led in scoring by Jackie Hope and Gabe Moctezuma, each with 11 points.

CY FAIR ISD TOURNAMENT

vs. Cy Ranch

The Cy Fair tournament started on Thursday with a tough rematch against one of the only two losses already this season against Cypress Ranch. Cy Ranch handed the boys their third loss on the season, 74-66. Jackie Hope led the Spartans in scoring against Cy Ranch, with a team season-high 32 points, followed by Connor Wohlfahrt and Francisco Blanco.

vs. Cy Lakes

Friday’s game pitted the Spartans against Cypress Lakes, and after a slow start, the team overcame a 10-point halftime deficit and fought back furiously in the 4th quarter, riding a great quarter from Jackie Hope, Teagan Tedrow, Cannon Thompson, and Gabe Moctezuma, among others. The team defeated Cy Lakes 42-37, with Teagan Tedrow leading the team in scoring with 14 points.

vs. Cy Creek and Langham Creek

Saturday the team faced two tough opponents in Cypress Creek and then Langham Creek in the Consolation Championship game.

In the Saturday morning match, the Spartans defeated Cy Creek 51-48, led in scoring by Connor Wohlfahrt with 11 points (and 9 different Spartans scoring).

In the Consolation Championship game against Langham Creek, the Spartans fought hard in a back-and-forth game, securing the victory on a last-second buzzer beater to win the game 51-48! Jackie Hope hit the game-winning buzzer beater to secure the championship and led the team in scoring with 25 points, followed by Asa Rigo and Francisco Blanco.

Across the five games this week, 8 players on the team scored in double digits. Everyone is contributing to the success of the team!

The past week’s play brings the boys’ record to 9-3. The upcoming week is a much lighter week, as the team’s only matchup is an away game against Klein Collins on Tuesday at 4 pm.
