After a close loss to Cy Woods, our JV Lady Spartans rebounded with a victory resulting from a commanding team effort on the defensive half of the court.

Just as in the previous game, the scoring for both teams was slow at the start. But, at the midway mark of the first quarter, the hard work exerted by the Lady Spartans on the defensive end of the court resulted in transition points. The first quarter ended with a 13 point lead.

The Lady Spartans' grind and hustle continued into the second quarter. A stifling defense combined with improved boxouts for defensive rebounds helped extend the lead to 27 at the end of the half.

Their defensive resolve extended into the second half. The Lady Spartans were tireless in pursuit of rebounds on the offensive glass. This dedication led to many second-chance and third-chance opportunities and points.

The game ended with a 43 to 6 victory over Fort Bend Kempner.

Some of the impressive hustle stats of interest were the following:

  • Riley O’Connor led the way with 7 steals and 5 rebounds.
  • Kendall Parker had 8 pts and 2 blocks.
  • Katherine Cronin and Rylah Barnes each contributed three offensive rebs and 2 steals.
  • Rylah Barnes had 6 pts, 4 rebs, and 2 steals.
  • Camille Warren had 5 steals and 4 assists.
  • Emily Covington had 3 rebs and 4 steals.
