Freshman vs. Cy Woods 22-37

The girls came out firing early for their first game of the season at Cy Woods. They jumped out to an early lead courtesy of a big three pointer from Zoe Thompson. The lead changed hands a few times as the game proved to be very physical. All the girls played solid defense with numerous steals and rebounds. The first quarter scoring was added to by Stella Weiss, who added a bucket and a free throw.

The 2nd quarter was more of the same rough and tumble basketball, and our girls fought the Wildcats all the way. Second quarter scoring came via Caire Kadane and Zoe Thompson.

The girls were down at half, but opened strong in the third quarter. The cut into the lead sparked by a long half-court pass from Sophia Prejean to Claire Kadane for a nice layup. Shelby Thibodeaux got in on the scoring by pouring in three baskets in the second half. In the end we came up short, but it was a great start by the freshmen with lots of positives to carry into this week’s Kempner matchup at home.
