JV Volleyball Goes 13-1 in District Play, Snags the District Title

JV finished out its season with a home matchup against Jersey Village on Tuesday.

The teams traded punches early, eventually reaching a tie score 8 times in the set. Scores by Tess StephensonLauren Dunwoody, and Elizabeth Swoboda kept the Spartans in it early. Sydney PeraJenna Rae James, Brooke McAfeeand Maddy Hoang joined in the scoring in the middle of the set. After a Logan Sykes ace made it 20-19, the Spartans were finally able to break through. Additional scores by James and Sykes helped close out the set 25-19.

Stratford would waste no time taking control of the second set. A Jenna Rae James ace had the Spartans up 2-0, and they never looked back. Lauren Dunwoody and Brooke McAfee joined in with kills. Caroline White had a pair of sharply hit aces, and the rout was on. Sydney Pera added to the scoring, and Logan Sykes and Jocelyn Mucino kept the Falcons off the board with blanketing defense. A crushing kill by James, Maddy Hoang ace, and a pair of blocks by Milena Miladinovic had JV up 20-4 in the set. A pair of James kills helped finish things off with a final score of 25-7.

JV finished the year with a record of 28-5, 13-1 in District and captured the District title for the second straight year under Coach Sue Berg.
