vs. Northbrook
JV started the week hosting Northbrook on Tuesday. Stratford sprinted to a 7-0 lead on the strength of 3 service aces by Brooke McAfee and points by Tess Stephenson and Jenna Rae James. After a timeout, scores by Sydney Pera and Lauren Dunwoody helped extend the lead, while Maddy Hoang, suiting up as Libero for the match, held Raider attackers at bay. A run of aces by Kristabella Van Gaston and scores by James and Milena Miladinovic helped close out the set 25-5.
The Spartans kept on the gas in the second set, opening up a 7-2 lead on a pair of scores by Elizabeth Swoboda. After a timeout, Caroline White ran up a string of points to put the match out of reach. Stratford closed out the set and match at 25-6 on scores by Jocelyn Mucino, Logan Sykes, and Tess Stephenson.
vs. Spring Woods
JV finished the week traveling to Spring Woods. Stratford took an early 13-4 lead and built on it with kills by Sydney Pera and Lauren Dunwoody and a targeted ace by Caroline White. Consecutive put-back kills by Elizabeth Swoboda and Milena Miladinovic and consecutive aces by Kristabella Van Gaston helped close out the set at 25-8 for the Spartans.
After trading errors to start the second set, Stratford stretched a lead out to 9-4 on the strength of scores by Jenna Rae James, Brooke McAfee, Tess Stephenson, and Jocelyn Mucino. A pair of kills by Sydney Pera, a Logan Sykes ace, and a well-placed score from Milena Miladinovic forced a Tiger timeout at 14-7. When play resumed, Sykes put on a serving clinic, displaying a variety of speeds and locations to score 4 consecutive aces. Consecutive scores by Caroline White and Lauren Dunwoody made the score 20-8, and the Spartans closed things out 25-9 to sweep the Tigers.
JV (25-5, 10-1 in District) travels to Cy Ridge on Tuesday and visits Memorial on Friday. Both games start at 4:30 pm.
