Your Varsity Football Spartans faced Spring Woods at Tully Stadium on 10/12.

SWHS started with the ball and impressed on the first play with a first-down run on a QB draw. However, that was all your SHS defense allowed as a punt quickly followed. Hunter Biehl and Aaron DeLeon didn’t waste any time once SHS had their first offensive possession. On the first play, they connected on a quick slant for a 50-yard TD.

The impressive SHS defense continued with strong run and pass defense by the group. A quick series led to a punt by SWHS. SHS’s offense only needed three run plays, including the TD run by Joseph Netter, to score again, making it 14-0 in the middle of the first quarter.

And again, SHS’s defense gave up nothing but a punt. Biehl received the punt and wasn’t interested in sharing as he returned the SWHS punt 50+ yards for another SHS score.

The SHS defense wanted to get in on the early scoring. Bo Harrison picked up a bad option pitch by SWHS and took it 20 yards for another SHS TD.

Nothing was given to SWHS’s offense on their next possession. Just more solid SHS defense before forcing a quick punt. SHS’s offense stayed on the ground for the next drive but still scored quick on an eventual QB sneak from a yard out. Kenneth Neal quickly ended the next SWHS offensive drive with a fumble recovery on the SWHS 15 yard line.

The first quarter ended 35-0 in favor of the Spartans. The remaining three quarters continued to be controlled by the Spartans as they wrapped up another victory, 42–2. The Spartans are now 4-3 (3-1 District).

• A reshuffled starting offensive line of Clayton Nonhof, Foard Polley, Zachary Prudhomme, Ryan Griggs, and Armando Castro continued to impress.
