Freshman White Football Team (4-1, 2-0)

Using a combination of strong runs and impressive pass plays, the Spartans secured their second District win. Nick Riopelle (#49) received the opening kickoff and set up the offense with great field position after he ran twenty yards to the Spartan 40 yard line. From there, Andy Navarro (#3) threw a strike to Joey Mundwiller (#34) over the middle for a quick 18 yards and a first down. Several QB keepers by Navarro (#3) and the Spartans scored when Navarro raced to the end zone on a 3rd and 4 play. The two-point try failed,  leaving the score at 6-0. Cy Woods opened their initial drive with several nice runs and a completed pass, placing them at the Stratford 10 yard line. A timeout by the Spartans helped the defense respond. Mohammad Diaa (#64) had a tackle for loss, followed by Mundwiller (#34) and Evan Candler (#24) making a nice tackle on the screen pass to follow. Jackson Berg (#88) pushed the line of scrimmage backwards with the first sack of the game. Two plays later, Berg (#88), along with Thomas Turner (#74) and Diaa (#64), met at the quarterback and caused a fumble by the Cy Creek QB. Cy Creek's hope of a score failed to materialize when a pass was marked down on 4th down, when the receiver caught the ball with a knee down. Navarro (#3) led the Stratford offense for several nice runs to open the ensuing drive. Richmond So (#28) replaced Navarro when he left the field after a big hit. After a nice run by John Hearne (#15), So (#28) hit Ryder Jones (#48) on a pop pass that went for 8 yards. The first quarter ended on another quick pass from So (#28) to Nathan Bell (#4) that resulted in a first down.

Navarro (#3) returned for the start of the 2nd quarter. He teamed up with Mundwiller (#34) on an inside screen down to Cy Creek's 15 yard line. After a holding call against the Spartans, Navarro floated a pass to Jamiel Wright (#83), who made a remarkable "Moss" style grab for a touchdown. The two-point try was successful when Navarro did his best Johnny Manziel imitation,  scrambling across the field and completing a pass to Turner (#74). The Spartans now led 14-0. A nice kickoff by Wyatt Throckmorton (#85) and tackle by Joshua Siems (#44) set up Cy Creek on offense. Diaa (#64) had a great tackle for loss, followed by a nice play by Candler (#24) when he tracked down the ball carrier on a wide run. Noel Rodriguez (#40) had the pass deflection on 4th down and turned the ball back over to the Spartan offense. Another run by Hearne (#15) and a nice pass to Teagan Tedrow (#20), set up by great blocking on the play by Nick Massad (#35), had the offense on the move. Navarro (#3) took the snap and ran down the far sideline for another 26 yards to the Cy Creek 21. A couple of runs and a pass to Bell (#4) set up 3rd and goal from the 4 yard line. Navarro (#3) found Wright (#83) again on a crossing pattern for another touchdown. The two-point try failed, and the Spartans now led 20-0. Siems (#44) made consecutive tackles for the Spartan defense, forcing a punt. Nothing further materialized, and the Spartans led 20-0 at the half.

Despite some great defensive plays, Cy Creek started moving the ball to open the 3rd quarter. Brayden Botary (#33) made a great tackle to stop a potential touchdown. Caden Couch (#31) and Braden Early (#67) teamed up on the following play for a great QB pressure leading to an incomplete pass. Botary (#33) had a great hit on the Cy Creek ball carrier after a quick 8 yards. Hayden Thomas (#17) tracked down the running back at the Spartan 16 yard line. The defense finally stopped Cy Creek when Rodriguez (#40) made a great interception at the 6 yard line. The first down play resulted in another touchdown when Navarro (#3) found Wright (#83) again down the sideline, resulting in a 93-yard score. After a failed two-point try, Stratford led 26-0. The kickoff coverage team did its job when Ryder Jones (#48), Bell (#4), and Jeferson Bonilla (#39) teamed up to stop the return. Cy Creek on a 4th down had a great run down to the 3 yard line. Despite a shared sack by Siems (#44) and Ryan Griffith (#19), Cy Creek later scored their first points on a QB keeper, setting the score at 26-6 to end the 3rd quarter.

So (#28) kept the offensive momentum going with a nice pass to Wright (#83) and a run to midfield, carrying several defenders for the first down. Hearne (#15) and Riopelle (#49) continued with a couple of tough runs, but the Spartans had to punt. The defense quickly got possession back when Brennan McKnight (#43) recovered a fumble by Cy Woods. Stratford was unable to take advantage of the takeaway. Cy Creek's defense forced a turnover on downs. Landon (#73) opened Cy Creek's drive with a couple of tackles for loss. Bonilla (#39), Tedrow (#20), and Massad (#35) had several nice tackles on the plays to follow, setting up a 3rd down. Cy Creek sent a long pass, but Cormac Steranko (#81) secured the victory with a great interception, ending the game. Your Spartans won in dominating fashion, 26-6.
